Florida Hurricane Damage Claims: 2021 Hurricane Season Starts Off Strong

Hurricane season 2021 is already off to a strong start in Florida.  Many climate models and meteorologists have predicted this is going to be a particularly active Atlantic hurricane season. It has already shown itself to be among one of the most active on record already, barely seven weeks into the season.  This is likely to manifest itself in at least one, if not more, named storms touching South Florida either directly or indirectly, by the time the season officially ends after Thanksgiving.

Will You Have Florida Hurricane Damage Claims This Year?

The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1 and ends on November 30th.  Nevertheless, in a sign that nature does not abide by the calendar, Tropical Storm Ana formed on May 22nd, which made this the seventh straight Atlantic hurricane season in which the first named storm formed before the hurricane season had even officially begun.  There have also already been five named storms thus far this hurricane season, even though the early months of storm season are normally the quietest.  The tail end of hurricane season is normally the worst, with the most active portions of the storm season normally from September onward.   Therefore, things may only get worse for South Florida residents as the season goes on.  However, if a hurricane or tropical storm does directly affect Boca Raton, Palm Beach County or South Florida, you can rest assured that David Flaks, public adjuster for PubAdjuster, will be there to assist you in obtaining maximum recovery from your insurer for any damage you may sustain in a hurricane or tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Elsa Makes Landfall in Florida

Florida has already seen its first serious storm activity despite how early in the hurricane season it is. Tropical Storm Elsa made landfall in Cuba on July 5th and then crawled up Florida’s West Coast before making landfall in Taylor County on Florida’s sparsely populated Nature Coast near the town of Steinhatchee as a tropical storm.  Elsa then began moving north through Georgia and on into the Carolinas and all the way up to Canada after earlier models had shown that the storm might affect South Florida directly before its eventual turn westward into the Gulf of Mexico.  Elsa flirted with making landfall near Tampa, briefly even becoming a Category 1 hurricane offshore, before it eventually turned and came ashore further north.  Despite not being hurricane strength when it came ashore, Elsa is still estimated to have caused nearly $300 million worth of damage in the United States and Canada before eventually moving offshore and dissipating.  The storm also resulted in at least one death in Florida when strong winds from Elsa caused a tree to fall on two cars during evening rush hour in Jacksonville, killing one motorist and injuring several others.
